Spec Course Day 2

Is it me, or do the CLTs suffer from schizophrenia or something. Yesterday scold like some dog, today start joking around. Wow, so much for discipline. To be brutally honest, HQ is screwed. CLTs want scold, also not scolding properly. Even admit that ''I thought yesterday I shout shout very scary, throw file on the floor, some more so drama''. Wtf. So your scolding is actually acting?! Win liao... Joke nvm, during serious stuff also joke. Then suddenly become so serious, obviously acting right. Scold, then turn around laugh with the other CLTs. These people are running spec course, but can't even lead properly.

Another gripe, AWARDS. First off, congrats to Wen Bin for getting Best In Trainfire. Awards are supposed to go to the best people, but what resulted was complete farce. Throughout the entire course, not once did the CLT ask for a volunteer, not even ONCE. How are you to determine those with initiative? Granted, I did not put in my best effort for Spec Course, but recognition should at least go to those who did. Like Ben Cheong the timer, shout so loud, enthu kia. In the end, not even a lick of anything. The CLT just pick the IC himself, then send that IC for the interview. Not enough people? Easy, just pick one person from RGS. Yes, I am jealous, but I'm not trying to initiate rivalry here. It's unfair to assume the superiority of RGS just because they won alot of awards before. The RGS girl that got nominated from my platoon didn't even really do anything, besides asking smart aleck questions. You can tell, just by her mannerism that she thinks she's very smart. The way she speaks gives off arrogant vibes. Not to discredit the award winners, but other people who put in effort should be given recognition as well, and also more opportunities for others to shine. In the end, snagged a 2SG :)

Leadership is, I believe, something inherent in everyone. The degree of effectiveness, however, differs from every individual. Leadership is not something you can teach, something you can say, ''Ok so you learn this today. Go home and mug'' Rather, the key is to develop leadership through experience. Give a person the opportunity, and if he wants to improve, with every opportunity he will hone his leadership skills. So much so that if anything happens, BAM, he knows what to do. That is how I feel leadership should be developed. The gauge of leadership is not how well you scold, or about ruling your men with an iron fist. The true indicator is the performance of your men, and whether they become better AS A PERSON because of you. Good leaders are effective, but great leaders INSPIRE. That should be the case.

Ahh, have to wake up damn early tmr to go SDC for last day of course. Still really happy bout my 2nd Sergeant haha.

Good Night.
